✓ Assist Green Club teachers in planning Environmental topics to teach students
✓ Conduct extra-curricular activities focused on the environment
✓ Help students with the planting of vegetable & flowers on school grounds
✓ Do community outreach to inspire the local community to be more “green”
✓ Teach about the importance of organic food, and help schools & students plan their farming plans
The program will be focused in locations where our partnered schools are; Aburi, Ajumako & Jamestown, so that you can work with the school and the local community. The Green Clubs are existing at all schools we work with, so you will work alongside the teachers to improve the current programs and offer a fresh insight into farming and gardening.
JustGhana’s first project was launching the Green Club in 2011, an environmental club in partnered schools that inspires children to learn more about the important environmental topics, whilst also teaching them how to use the school grounds to plant flowers and vegetables.
Each week, schoolchildren are taught a new environmental topic, and then spend time working on the school ground, planting vegetables & flowers. The GC also organise trips to local parks and do events such as “clean the streets” where they litter pick and raise awareness in the local community.
JustGhana started working with Master Owusu-Danso, Ghana’s inspirational organic farmer, in 2008. He was formally headmaster of Amanfo Boys School and founder of the Ayhiresu Naturalist Centre.
He was JG’s first green club patron and sadly passed away in 2020.
